We have a choice of three instruments in the string programme; the violin, the viola and the cello.

Highest in pitch
Small in size. Brilliant and virtuosic. The most popular instrument. Relatively easy to switch to viola.

Viola
Pitched between the violin and the cello
Slightly larger than the violin, pitched an octave up from the cello. Similar playing technique to the violin. Beautiful, rich tone.

Cello
Lowest in pitch.
Different posture; instrument is held between legs. Warm, grunty sound.
