Isla Sinclair Parker has been a regular face performing at school and in the community and it has been a bug bear of mine that I haven’t made a decent recording of her yet. This changed yesterday with the help of Katie Thompson and the NZ Music Commission. Thanks to some funding through the commission, Katie has been visiting the senior music classroom to work with song writing students on their portfolios.
The first recording from that process appeared yesterday and Isla (stage name Lunar Fae) should feel really confident entering the RockQuest with her beautiful solo performance.
Usually, students perform live at the RockQuest in a venue with a professional back end. This year, after lockdown and uncertainty around mass-gatherings, the organisers chose to transfer to an online format. Sadly, as of yet, we have not heard anything about the intermediate competition, the Bandquest of which we had two acts scheduled to enter. Please enjoy Isla’s performance and share with whanau and friends.
