For those of you Senior Concert Band folks who have been working on customising your solo for Tequila, I made this backing track. It just repeats the basic chord pattern over and over again, so you can spend as much time as you like playing around with ideas and getting creative.
The chord structure in Tequila is perfect for improvising – the Bb (concert) mixolydian scale (“Unison Pattern B”, at the beginning of your chart) is all you need. That single scale works throughout the entire solo passage, so it’s a lot less to get your head around. Give it a go – you might surprise yourself.
Another option is just to experiment with mixing up the notes and rhythms in the written solo (at bar 41 or bar 49). Add some personal flourishes and have fun with it!
