String orchestra count down to 100 years

Kia ora,

Just a quick note to say where we are at with the rehearsals for the 100th celebration on the 20th of September at 6:30pm. At this point of the year, every rehearsal counts and we have only two, possibly three more rehearsals before the big night. They are;

  • Friday the 13th of September at 11:45-12:40pm tutti
  • Tuesday the 17th of September at 12:40-1:05pm cello sectional
  • Thursday the 19th of September, time to be announced, tutti

Please put a note in your diary or a reminder on your phone to bring instruments on those days.

On the 20th of September, the call time is 5:30pm in the Class 6-7 home rooms in the Lower School. The concert will begin at 6:30pm. We are performing Slovakian Folk Song, Victorian Seaside Holiday and Allegro in G.

If you need a new copy of the sheet music, it can be downloaded from here.

Please put a final push into learning this repertoire for this concert. There are still some corners which need cleaning and the more work individual players put in on their own parts, the more we can work on nuance in the rehearsals.

I would like to acknowledge all of the hard work which students have put into learning these three songs this year and look forward to starting some new repertoire in the final week of term.

Ngā mihi nui,

Hugo
